Falmouth Homeless Prevention Program

Your Support Matters!

The Falmouth Homeless Prevention Program (FHPP) was founded in 1995 by Robert Murray and Peter Kirwin. Initial funding came from the Town of Falmouth to assist at-risk Falmouth residents with housing issues and homelessness.

Currently the FHPP runs solely on donations, grants and proceeds from a small annual fundraising event, Kirwin/Murray Tour de Falmouth. All FHPP receipts are restricted and used in full for direct client support. The FHC Tenant Relations Director manages the program and no administrative or managerial overhead is taken.

FHPP beneficiaries are from vulnerable populations; the elderly, low-income families with young children, the chronically ill and disabled. All are at risk for homelessness. Some live on fixed incomes, while others work, but in low-paying jobs within the Falmouth community. Many are living paycheck to paycheck. They provide essential services that keep our community running smoothly; school employees, landscapers, retail and hospitality staff, healthcare workers, and administrative support staff.

Requests for assistance from the FHPP are carefully vetted to ensure legitimacy, and repeat requests for support are rarely entertained. FHC staff assists with the coordination of services and referrals; food, healthcare, and mental health support. We help clients navigate state, local and federal programs to create a safety net, ultimately improving long-term outcomes.

The intent of the FHPP is to restore hope with compassionate, targeted financial support in times of need; ultimately ensuring safe and stable housing.

Since its inception, the FHPP has assisted over 3,500 Falmouth individuals and families.
