Gifford Street Campus
In the 1990s the Falmouth Housing Corporation acquired several parcels of land that today constitute the FHC Gifford Street campus. The land located at 611 Gifford Street was sold to the Falmouth Service Center. The remaining parcel includes approximately eight acres of buildable land and was suitable for affordable housing. The affordable housing at this location on Gifford Street has been built in stages, responding to community need and available funding.
The Gifford Street campus is centrally located, and directly abuts the Falmouth Service Center, an important community resource in Falmouth. The Service Center includes a food pantry, a robust room clothing room, home delivery for those in need, and financial counseling services for low-income people.
Municipal services and places of employment are numerous on Gifford Street, including Town-owned playing fields, Falmouth High School, the Town of Falmouth Department of Public Works, and the Falmouth Town Forest that includes a glacier-carved pond encircled by 3.5 miles of trails through close to 600 acres of rich town-protected forest.
Gifford Street includes privately owned homes, several market rate condominium complexes, a large professional office park, several restaurants and businesses, a large senior living facility, and small grocery store. It connects directly to Falmouth’s Main Street.
